Canary Islands Packing List: What to Bring in 2026
What to pack for the Canary Islands — layers for microclimates, hiking gear, essentials for volcano tours and the right adapters.

Clothing by season
Year-round temperatures rarely drop below 18°C or exceed 30°C, but microclimates vary hugely. Pack layers: a light jacket for evenings and for Teide (where it can be near freezing at the summit). In summer, light clothes, a hat and sunglasses are enough. In winter, add a mid-layer and rain jacket for the north of each island.
Footwear & gear
Sturdy walking shoes or trainers are essential if you plan any hiking — Anaga, Caldera de Taburiente and Garajonay all need proper grip. Water shoes help on rocky beaches. A daypack, reusable water bottle and swimsuit are non-negotiable.
Tech & documents
UK plug adapters (Type F, same as Europe). A power bank for long days out. Sunscreen factor 50+ — the Atlantic sun is strong even in winter. Bring your printed booking confirmations for tours, especially Teide permits and ferry tickets.
