Which Mount Teide permit do you need?
To reach the actual summit, you need authorisation for PNT 10 Telesforo Bravo. This out-and-back trail runs from La Rambleta, near the upper cable-car station at about 3,550 m, to the summit at 3,715 m and is the permitted normal route to the peak. Visiting Teide National Park, driving to viewpoints or travelling by cable car only as far as La Rambleta is not the same as entering the summit trail.
How to book through Tenerife ON
Book online in four steps: 1) create and validate your Tenerife ON account; 2) open the PNT 10 Telesforo Bravo trail page and its availability section; 3) choose the date, time and number of visitors, enter every participant's details and pay any applicable fee by card; and 4) save the confirmation and take the identification used for each visitor. Availability can change and the managing authority may close access, so check Tenerife ON again shortly before travelling.
Cable car plus summit: two separate bookings
The cable car and the summit permit are separate products. A cable-car ticket gets you between the lower station and La Rambleta when the service operates, but it does not authorise entry to PNT 10. Match the cable-car schedule with the time shown on your summit permit and allow a sensible margin for parking, queues, weather and acclimatisation.
Hiking from Montaña Blanca requires another reservation
Walking from the base to La Rambleta via PNT 07 Montaña Blanca is a separate high-mountain activity. Its reservation allows the ascent to the upper cable-car area and the return on foot; it does not include the final PNT 10 summit section. To hike the complete route to the peak, secure both permissions and make sure their dates and times work together.
2026 PNT 10, PNT 07 and cable-car prices
Since 19 January 2026, daytime access to PNT 10 and PNT 07 has public fees based on residency, age, trail and day. Children under 14 are exempt from the PNT 10 charge. The table shows the Cabildo's published standard self-guided rates; Tenerife ON calculates the amount that applies to your booking. These trail fees do not include the cable car. Official cable-car pages currently show non-resident return tickets from about €42–43 for adults and €21 for children, with prices that can fluctuate by demand and date.

When are Mount Teide permits released?
The Cabildo states that a new week of places is released every Monday at 07:00 Canary Islands time, keeping a rolling 28-day booking window available. Be signed in and ready before release time because popular summit slots can go quickly. If your date is unavailable, check Tenerife ON for current status, but do not rely on changing another booking: confirmed reservations cannot normally be edited, cancelled or transferred to different visitors, dates or times.
Sunrise and sunset access
Tenerife ON also manages authorised summit access outside normal cable-car service hours, including designated sunrise and sunset periods. These options are for properly equipped high-mountain visitors who can manage the route without relying on an operating cable car. Check the exact permit conditions rather than assuming a daytime authorisation covers these hours.
What to do if summit permits are sold out
Do not buy a standard Teide excursion assuming it includes summit access. You can still explore the national park, visit viewpoints, use the cable car when operating or choose a sunset and stargazing experience that does not claim to reach the crater. If a guided summit product is available, verify in writing that the correct PNT 10 access is included for your date.
Day-of checklist and closures
Carry the reservation confirmation and the identification used to book. For the upper walking trails, official cable-car guidance requires suitable mountain footwear, warm clothing, a thermal blanket, water, a charged mobile phone and a headlamp or torch; also check the exact equipment listed on your permit. This is a high-altitude environment with lower oxygen, strong sun, wind and rapid temperature changes. Trail or cable-car closures can happen because of weather, ice or safety conditions, so always check the official status before leaving your accommodation.

Where do you book the Mount Teide summit permit in 2026?
Current PNT 10 Telesforo Bravo permits are booked and managed through the Tenerife ON website or app. Older reservations made through the National Parks portal may still be managed there only when explicitly covered by their original conditions.
Is the Mount Teide summit permit free?
Not for every visitor. During the charged PNT 10 period from 09:00 to 17:00, residents of Tenerife and children under 14 are exempt, other Canary Islands residents pay €6 and other visitors pay €15 under the Cabildo's published 2026 rates. The cable car and any PNT 07 reservation are separate.
When are Mount Teide permits released?
A new week of Tenerife ON availability is scheduled to open every Monday at 07:00 Canary Islands time, maintaining a rolling 28-day reservation window. Register and validate your account before release time.
Can you change or cancel a Teide permit reservation?
Confirmed reservations cannot normally be modified, cancelled or transferred to different participants, dates or time slots. The official conditions allow refunds for qualifying trail closures, exceptional circumstances or when the Teide cable car is not operating; check the terms shown during your booking.
Do I need a permit to reach the summit of Mount Teide after taking the cable car?
Yes. The cable-car ticket and the PNT 10 summit authorisation are separate. You need both if you plan to use the cable car and then walk from La Rambleta to the peak.
Can you hike Mount Teide from the base with only the summit permit?
No. Hiking through PNT 07 Montaña Blanca–La Rambleta requires its own reservation, while the final PNT 10 Telesforo Bravo section requires the separate summit permit.
Can you visit Teide without a summit permit?
Yes. You can visit the national park, its road viewpoints and other open areas without entering PNT 10. Cable-car tickets, trail access and temporary closures have their own conditions.
What happens if the trail or cable car closes?
Closures can occur because of weather, ice, wind or safety conditions. Check Tenerife ON and the official cable-car status before travelling and follow the cancellation or rescheduling terms attached to each separate booking.
