La Gomera: the destination context behind this guide.

San Sebastián: ferry convenience

The capital is the simplest base for an early or late ferry, urban services and eastern routes. It suits short stays and travellers without a car, but Valle Gran Rey and the north still require significant road time.

Valle Gran Rey and Playa de Santiago

Valle Gran Rey combines beaches, sunsets, restaurants and walking access within its valley. Playa de Santiago offers a quieter southern coast and airport proximity. Check ferry and bus connections because not every arrival uses the same port.

Hermigua, Agulo and rural stays

The green north places walkers near traditional villages and Garajonay approaches. Rural accommodation rewards quiet but may involve steep access, limited evening food and cloudier conditions. Confirm parking and actual drive times.
