La Gomera

Whistling forests & cliffs

A prehistoric forest island just a 50-minute ferry from Tenerife — close enough for a day trip, though it deserves more. Its misty laurel forest, Garajonay, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and locals still 'speak' across valleys with a whistled language, El Silbo.
