Inter-island ferries

Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas run ferries between the eastern islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura) and to the smaller islands. The Tenerife–La Gomera crossing is the shortest at 50 minutes. Book ahead in summer and around holidays. Foot passenger tickets are cheaper and often all you need for day trips.

Inter-island flights

Binter and Canaryfly connect all eight islands with short flights (20–60 minutes). Prices are reasonable if booked in advance. Tenerife North–La Palma and Gran Canaria–Lanzarote are among the busiest routes. Flights are the practical choice for La Palma and El Hierro.

Getting around each island

A rental car is the best way to explore any island beyond the main resort. Buses (guaguas) cover main routes but are limited for remote areas. Airport transfers are a reliable option for late arrivals. On La Graciosa, your only options are bike or foot — there are no cars.
