Three days from a northern base
From Corralejo: one morning for the dunes at low tide, one full day for El Cotillo and its coves, and one day for the interior — Betancuria's old capital, the Antigua cheese museum and a lunch that makes the drive worthwhile. The pattern is what matters: three focused days, three regions, zero wasted crossings.
Three days from a southern base
From Morro Jable or Costa Calma: one day for the Jandía beach and its promenade, one day for Sotavento and its lagoon (windsurfers in the morning, calm water later), and one central-island day crossing to Betancuria and back. That crossing is your single long drive for the stay — spend it well.
Five days: the comfortable middle
Five days forgive a slow morning. Split the island across your first two days with one lazy beach day in between, then add Lobos — an early ferry, water, shade and sunscreen, and back before the wind gets argumentative. Keep the final day near your base: a long drive before a flight is how Fuerteventura punishes you.
Seven days: Cofete earns its day
With a week, the far south stops being theoretical. Give Cofete a full day with an authorised vehicle or a tour, spend one evening in Morro Jable's old quarter, and keep one day completely unplanned for the beach the forecast ends up blessing. The island rewards the visitor who leaves room for its wind to rearrange the week.
The resident's planning rules
Three rules keep Fuerteventura holidays happy: the wind decides beach days, the ferry decides Lobos days, and geography decides everything else. Check both forecasts the night before, move exposed plans to the calmest window, and never promise children a boat trip on a day the sea has not agreed to.

Five days gives a useful overview of both coasts; seven is better if you want Jandía and the north without constant driving.
Can you tour Fuerteventura without a car?
Yes from a resort using buses and organised trips, but independent multi-beach days become noticeably harder.
Is a day trip to Lobos worth it?
Yes if the ferry is sailing and you go early with sun protection and water — the island's charm is its emptiness, which is also its lack of shade.
