Lanzarote base guide
An easy east-coast resort, closer to the north and the Manrique sights
The honest verdict
Costa Teguise has the easiest resort layout on the island, restaurants around Pueblo Marinero and beaches with real personalities: sheltered El Jablillo for small children, Las Cucharas where the windsurfers set up. Its east-coast position cuts driving time to the Manrique sights and the north compared with Playa Blanca. It is quieter and less varied than Puerto del Carmen.
The resort name on a booking site can cover very different walking distances and evening atmospheres. Match the neighbourhood before comparing hotels.

Restaurants and bars around the square, evenings on foot.
02
The largest beach, where the windsurf schools set up.
03
The small, sheltered beach, the easy choice with young children.
04
Quieter stays near the resort's third beach.
The search opens on Costa Teguise. Add your dates, then check the map: whether a property sits in Pueblo Marinero and centre, Las Cucharas, El Jablillo or Playa Bastián side changes your walk to the beach and restaurants more than its star rating does.

Lanzarote Airport is on the other side of Arrecife, a short drive away. By bus, change in Arrecife: Arrecife Bus lines 22 and 23 serve the airport and line 1 runs to Costa Teguise. A taxi or transfer is simpler with luggage.
Workable: the beaches and restaurants are on foot, and Arrecife Bus runs line 1 to Arrecife, line 3 to Puerto del Carmen, line 11 to the Sunday Teguise market, line 25 to Puerto Calero and line 31 to Caleta de Famara.
The east-coast position is the point: Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes and the north are closer than from the southern resorts, and Timanfaya is still a comfortable day.

Eat beyond the hotel
Pueblo Marinero covers easy resort evenings. For fish by the water, go to the Charco de San Ginés in Arrecife; for traditional food, eat inland around Teguise.
